Cinequest Mavericks Studio brings you LIFE IS LOVE, the provocative film about a group of inspirational young women who have triumphed over severe adversity and their highly controversial leader. Arguably, the world's most renowned and controversial leader in the movement to free and transform girls from the ravages of human trafficking, Somaly Mam, a survivor and empowered inspiration, signs her books: "Life Is Love." TIME MAGAZINE recognized Somaly Mam as one of the 100 most influential women in the world today. Recently her story has come under media attack. Filmed prior to these recent allegations from renowned journalists, LIFE IS LOVE presents her story and those of the young women who idolize her, raw and in their voice. Much of the film shocks, much inspires and ultimately LIFE IS LOVE is an exploration of the best of humankind as well as the worst: from lies and brutality to compassion and love.
The backdrop? Cambodia: the alluring land and people that hold the reputations of being both the Pearl of Asia as well as the place of the Khmer Rouge outrages. Halfdan (hallf' dun) is the writer of the novel To The Dogs and the youth empowerment book 7 Powers Of Creating. He is the director of the feature films Life Is Love and Still Waters Burn. He also co-founded and directs Cinequest, a vanguard organization that fuses creativity with innovation to empower.

Kathleen J. Powell, Director & Producer | Full Biography
As Cinequest’s co-founder and president Kathleen has combined her unique background in engineering and art to successfully empower artists and innovators worldwide. Kathleen has produced successful independent films, overseen the growth and impact of the Cinequest Film Festival and driven Picture The Possibilities global youth empowerment movement.
Kathleen was named one of the top 25 people who dramatically changed the Silicon Valley over the past 25 years by Metro Newspapers.
Kathleen was selected to join the Bush Institute’s Women’s Initiative Fellowship, where prominent American business women are paired with Fellows to empower and equip these women to become effective leaders.
